hey all, i'm looking to get in touch with the person who wrote/published the "no boys allowed" zine which was passed out at bikebike in san francisco. it was part of one of the oppression and gender identity issues workshops. we're looking to start a women's night here at community cycles, and i'd like to scan my copy as a pdf and email it to potential volunteers, as well as make some copies to have in the shop... if you're on the list, or if you know the person who wrote it (her name escapes me), please get in touch with me off list... thanks! josh. community cycles boulder

The Bike Collective Network will be in booth "L4" (http://ib.goexposoftware.com/2010/goExpo/floorPlan/viewFloorPlan.php) this year for Interbike. Yeah, we got bumped. But it will still be fun. It is that time of year again, where we pack rooms at Circus Circus, ride in crazy alley cat races, attend the NBDA seminars for non-profit applicable nuggets of info, check out the cycling industry's 2011 lines, and... then there are the things that stay in Vegas. A group will be driving out from Salt Lake City, Utah on the 21st. If you are planning on going, need help with badges, rooms, etc.,... please let me know offlist. Design contest for bicycle valet parking rack: $250 prize

Hello, colleagues; The Ohio City Bicycle Co-op <http://ohiocitycycles.org/> has been valet-parking bikes<http://ohiocitycycles.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=24%3…>at community events for about 10 years. We have tried many different solutions for portable parking racks for this service including shipping pallets and baby-crib rails, and are now using bike rims<http://ocbc.smugmug.com/Other/Earthfest-2007-2007-04-23/0614091211/83848784…>screwed to three furring strips<http://ocbc.smugmug.com/Other/Earthfest-2007-2007-04-23/0614091210/83848781…>, (the best photos we have are in these links). We're looking for a better solution, as we have several regular yearly events where we need to park up to 300 bikes. As the above-linked photos attest, portability is a primary consideration. Thanks to a grant from Cleveland Colectivo <http://www.clevelandcolectivo.org/>, we are offering $250 to anyone with a better idea. This contest closes May 11th. Bike Collective Wiki is under attack and we need your help.

Rich Points at Community Cycles (Boulder, CO, USA) has complete control of the bikecollectives.org and bikebike.org domain names and hosting. However, the wiki has been under serious attacks from spammers ( http://www.bikecollectives.org/wiki/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges&l…), so he needs your help to come up with solutions. Specifically? We need a MediaWiki security solution that still keeps the wiki easy to contribute, but keeps most of the spammers at bay and doesn't burn out the moderators. So far we have implemented ReCaptcha and email validation requirements on user creation, but it appears even those are being thwarted. Sincerely, Jonathan Morrison c: 801-688-0183

I am interested in discussing mobile bicycle repair with other cooperatives who currently own or operate them. The Bozeman Bike Kitchen will begin fund-raising toward this goal starting in two weeks and I'm very interested in seeing or hearing about the mobile rigs other cooperatives have set-up. - tool list - cargo bike vs. trailer vs. both - consumable parts list (tires, tubes, lube, et al) - what advocacy stuff to include (banners, stickers, brochures, and how to carry them) - booth, tent, other - other issues I'm short-sighted on... Bike Trailer & teaching skills workshops

Hey folks Geoff from Bike Dump & The WRENCH up here in Winnipeg. We're organizing a summer workshop series and 2 of the requested topics are trailers and teaching skills for in the shop. So I was wondering if anyone had done workshops on these topics and could share their materials/experience. Is it even really feasible to do a trailer workshop in one day given that most designs involve substantial cutting, welding, etc? Also, does anyone have notes from the "HOW TO TEACH HANDS OFF" Workshop at last year's Bikebike? it ain't up on the wiki sadly. Thanks! Geoff

Contribute to the Map!

One of the things that came out of the Bici Bici conference here in California this past weekend was a potential bike tour of California. In order to start thinking about the tour, we needed to build a map. So we turned to Google Maps. And quickly realized that there's a need for a comprehensive bike collectives (et cetera) map. So we have changed the name of the map to include you. Yep, YOU! WOO!
