Starting a School Bike Bus/Train

I was wondering if any of your organizations had already undertaken such a project and had information or suggestions they'd be willing to share. Thanks for the replies. That is helpful. However, I guess I'm still not clear whether e-bike conversions we do at the shop (rather than club rides with rider owned e-bikes) would be covered by general liability insurance. Does anyone have any further insights? Hello all, We are trying to determine if we need insurance (beyond general liability) to cover e-bike conversions on used bikes. Not totally sure if general liability insurance would cover this and I assume it may depend on the carrier. I'm also not totally clear why there would be any difference between this and a normal refurbished bike we sell, in terms of liability. Any insights would be appreciated! I thought this was a virtual conference!* Yep. It's a virtual conference, but the website was designed for in-person events. (-: *What time of day is the conference?* We will try to schedule events at various times so they're available to people with different schedules and in different time zones. *Why are you using Zoom/Discord?* We chose to prioritize Bike!Bike!'s tradition of Language Justice. We would love to use platforms that are open source and end-to-end encrypted, but we aren't aware of any open source software or end-to-end encrypted platforms with simultaneous interpretation features in the same league as Zoom. Discord has good machine translation features and a much friendlier user interface than any of the alternatives we have found. Hi there, Not shop related, but I thought it was worth a try. London Cycle Link has a group working on protocols for marshaling and group rides. So far it's a bit heavy on legal/rules of the road stuff, and a bit light on best practices and tips for organizing rides and marshaling. Does anyone have a document or resource they could share? Sharing Wheels Community Bike Shop is looking for an experienced bicycle service manager in Everett, WA. Sharing Wheels is a busy nonprofit bike shop that refurbishes used bikes, empowers customers to fix their own bikes, and educates volunteers to help with bike repair. If you like working on bikes *and *with people, this job could be for you. We are a solid organization in our 20th year serving the county north of Seattle. Everett is a medium-sized city (home to Boeing and Funko) with a growing music, art and bike scene. The Sharing Wheels Service Manager oversees every aspect of the shop service department operations as well as developing volunteer mechanics. As our only full-time employee, you will be responsible for ensuring outstanding customer service, quality bike repair and refurbishment, and supporting programs such as classes, kids bikes, and mobile repair clinics. Dear Members of the Think Tank, During the last 10-years, it has been my great pleasure to be able to use B!KE as a platform to promote cycling, to celebrate learning, and to get my hands dirty while building community. As a professional and as an activist, I am ready to seek new challenges and to use my skills to more directly address the climate crisis. On September 7th, I will start employment as the Executive Director with one of B!KE’s partner organizations, GreenUP. In the next two months, B!KE will be hiring our next Executive Director. Our board, staff, and volunteers are fully committed to ensuring that B!KE stays focused on our goals of education and empowerment through this transition.
