Y'all! Bike! Bike! has come and gone. PLEASE O PLEASE post workshop notes and thoughts on how it went and what you remember of major points of discussion I will still mail one chocolate bar and/or thank you card to each person who takes detailed notes and posts or emails them. On a related note, presumably most of your community bike shops take notes at meetings, it helps keep everyone who can't attend on the same page. I mean, having never attended (ideological transportation preferences + cost to travel). I say this with so much love for the people of bike!bike! and thinktank: with notes in past years either absent or mostly-absent, it sort of feels like y'all have unintentionally developed something of a secret cabal. How did it go!? And if there aren't notes from this year, is there any way to at least get some sort of consensus on their accessibility value? We are wrapping up a busy summer and transitioning into an exciting Fall. We are so grateful for the immense support we received for the campaign to purchase the property at 732 S. 1st St. W. We had a wild turn near the end of the capital campaign, and still have some work ahead of us to become the new owner. Please read the following news article about the state of our efforts to purchase our home. To view pictures and a summary of the entire Cycles of Change campaign timeline click here. As a piece to finish off the financing of the property, we are extremely close to offering promissory notes to the community. These are essentially loans that will be paid back by Free Cycles over time through a combination of tenant rental income, continued fundraising, and growth in program revenue. The future is bright! Please be patient as we work through finalizing the specific details of these notes. Although our final stage of our campaign is not actively canvassing, phone-banking, or asking for donations, we sure welcome and appreciate them. We are also extremely grateful for volunteer help, please contact us with any interest you may have in getting involved. Capital Campaign and Re-fitting our space: Suggestions?

Urban Bike Project of Wilmington Delaware will soon be embarking on a Capital Campaign to structurally stabilize and re-fit our current location which is an 100+ year old city-owned former police carriage barn. We are a non-profit community bike shop located in a low income inner city area. We have an architect engaged to help with some preliminary plans and drawings, and we've met with a number of our key volunteers to discuss how we can change our current space to maximize efficiency. This is a rather broad question, but I'm wondering if anyone has any practical experience on do's and don't's for such an undertaking or any other useful advice? We're trying to co-locate as best as possible our tools and work-stands and locate our used parts closer as well. This will limit the movement required with our current design and allow us to keep a closer watch on things to limit theft as best we can. Also trying to formalize a waiting area to help prevent customers wandering which is a particular problem during Youth Open Shop night,but also with adults. As I said, a rather broad topic but maybe someone on this list has real experience that they want to share. Thank you all so much for taking the time to check to see if you knew of any missing community bike shops. Not only did we add and update the main list, I also added a bunch of seedling pages using the websites y'all helpfully provided. So now we have a more comprehensive list! And despite the political controversy surrounding immigration and refugee resettlement, donations of clothing, household items, furniture and toys have poured in from across the state. Hi all, I expect to update the list of community bike shops some time this weekend. I wasn't expecting it to be such a huge list, so I'll have to dedicate an afternoon to it. Which is so awesome! Thank you all so much for responding to my request! Since it's a wiki that *anyone can edit*, it would be a great help to me if those of you who are wiki-savvy would consider adding the ones in your area. A note about autoresponders

Please make sure if you ever make use of a autoresponder that you use a separate email address for your ThinkTank subscription. If you know a smarter way to not autorespond to the thinktank every time an email gets sent to the thinktank, please feel free to share it with us. This isn't a huge problem here but I am going to start removing people who do have autoresponders set up but I'll also send you a polite email asking you to try to sort it out as it's an easy mistake to make. If anyone has any thoughts or better ideas on how to resolve this, please feel free free to share. Cheers!godwin

Ogden is arguably the best location for a bike collective in terms of donations and partnership, as it is home to Scott USA bicycle warrantees, Tektro/TRP, Rotor, Mercury, Mavic USA, ENVE, Crank Bros (including a Brooks office), and more, and many employees of QBP still work from home here and volunteer with the collective, too.
