Hi, group rides that snarl traffic you are riding having fun cars are stopped the drivers and passengers want to know what is going on you say we're just out having fun we do this every month leave from that place at this time next month they show up the ride is not sponsored or part of your shop but they find out about it the above is a basic description of what happened in los angeles between http://midnightridazz.com/ and the bicycle kitchen. Policy or Process for Removing Collective Members
by Maggie Burrus-Granger 20 Mar '09

20 Mar '09

Hi Everyone, I am wondering if anyone has a specific policy or process for removing individuals from the collective, or council however you define it, the inner group of people with voting power. We are restructuring our organization and do not have a system for this. In the process of trying to build capacity, we've had some problems with people not pulling their weight, but also have no process for removing them, while the rest of the collective doesn't particularly want to rock the boat with long-standing volunteers, so as a whole there are a lot of excuses for people so most likely a simple majority vote won't work. Any advice? Thanks -- Maggie Burrus-Granger Recycle-a-Bike Program Coordinator 27 Sims Ave. Providence, RI 02909 401.273.7101 www.recycleabike.org

In a message dated 3/19/2009 3:08:18 P.M. Central Daylight Time, rich(a)richpoints.com writes: http://wheels.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/03/18/the-costs-of-owning-a-car/ cost to health is not included, or lost of life. but I digress from really big things. Carbon cycles: we have two in this world. One is sustainable: plants bond carbon in the air with water from the ground to make sugar and oxygen, sugar later bonds with oxygen and becomes gas again. The second is not sustainable, We dig carbon out of the ground, (Burn it) Bond it with the Oxygen we need to live. Then we have both less oxygen and no way to put the Carbon back into the ground. A side note: The extra green house gasses will also harm plants and make it harder to have a good carbon cycle, which harms all food, oxygen, and all animals on the planet. The idea I am proposing is regional, self administered, self funded and self actualized programs. I do not want to wait for government or private bureaucracy to sanction or fund the real value of our cycling activities. A Promise Bikes is actually a commitment made by a bicycle rider to use a bicycle as the primary transportation device in their life. There are several ways participants can enroll in a promise bike program. 1. To pledge to use a bicycle with in a specific geographical area. 2. To pledge to use a bicycle and pubic transportation for all transportation. 3. Agree to log or document miles ridden. 4. Professional cyclist IE. messengers and racers. 5. Documented group rides, critical mass like rides where people use bicycles recreationally and in doing so are choosing to ride instead of drive for and evening. i use critical mass as an example because it is more well known but i really have midnight ridazz in mind. http://www.midnightridazz.com/ is a social phenomena started in Los Angales in 2003 Passing out serialized spoke cards and then riding twenty or thirty miles can add up quickly.
