Bikes Together is searching for an Interim Executive Director! The Interim Executive Director will be tasked with providing strong leadership, organizational and operational stability in a time of transition, requiring a highly adaptable, organized, and strategic mindset. This person will be community-focused, operationally-oriented, and moved to make bicycle transportation, recreation and mechanics accessible to people who are usually excluded because of race, class, and/or gender. The Interim Executive Director will oversee budgeting, ongoing fundraising, lead staff, strategy, and improve operations of our unique nonprofit. Outdoor bike wash

I’m Del Holland, a member of the board of the Bike Library in Iowa City, Iowa, https://icbikelibrary.org/ We are in a process of upgrading our outdoor space, currently concrete in a former warehouse. One amenity I would like to see added is an outdoor bike wash station. We now have a hose bib on the outside of the building. We would like something better. Have any of you got ideas or experience to guide our efforts? Topics we have thought about; Rain water collection as water source Pressure, either gravity or a power washer Bike hang/stand Parts wash Dirt/grit collection Drying area We’d love your insights on these and/or other things to help us design and build a functional and aesthetically pleasing (well maybe that is too much to wish for 😀) bike wash at the Bike Library. The only research has been asking people what they do about fixing their bikes, or would having a bike shop get them riding(more), and having positive responses. Anybody here doing management as a Worker Self-Directed Nonprofit? https://www.theselc.org/worker_selfdirected_nonprofits Rather than majority or consensus decision making, how about Dynamic Governance / Sociocracy: https://communitydevelopment.ces.ncsu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/What-i… While we are starting as an all-volunteer effort, I see much room for growth, and paid employees receiving a living wage.
