Hi folks, The Bike Kitchen in Windsor, Ontario (Canada) is hiring a Program Director/Shop Manager! We're a small community bike shop located in Windsor, Ontario - the southernmost city in Canada. The past few years have marked a lot of exciting new growth for us, and we're looking for someone to take over managing the day-to-day shop operations and take the lead on our community programming. Hi everybody So, like you, we have a lot of online accounts that various folks need to access: emails, bank accounts, social media, utilities, and on and on. Some of these need to be kept reasonably secure, others not so much. Does anyone have a good method of keeping tracking of your accounts in a way that they can be shared easily but still kept safe? Community Cycling Center is Hiring a Development Director

Hey all, A lot of you know me from Bike Farm, which is an all volunteer run bike collective here in Portland, OR. Recently, I took up the role of Executive Director for the Community Cycling Center, a non-profit that's been broadening access to bicycles, and keeping them out of the land fills, for 26 years!! It's an interesting move from all volunteers to a staff of 35. I'm hoping to attend the next BikeBike (should it be safe to do so) and maybe we can continue the conversation around paid vs. employee organizations. Anyhow, on the ask/offer. Successful interventions for interrupting sexism

Hi everyone We ran a volunteer induction working bee today (photo attached), and despite our best intentions, sexism was a constant companion. It wasn't over the top, just the everyday: Woman: "how do I...?" Man: "let me show you..." 10 minute later, man still holding the spanner. Many times, multiple circumstances. Unrequested advice is another common form. The problem is that it is baked into the cultural dynamics. It is tricky to interrupt without making everyone feel bad. I've got a personal policy that I try to follow: - don't touch bike unless requested, - don't offer information unless questioned, or someone about to hurt themselves, - watch, listen But that takes much patience, and comes after 20 years of anti sexism work. It is a bit of a stretch for our 75 year old volunteer mechanic with a heart of gold. I'm looking for something pragmatic that we can implement, to interrupt the worst of it, to make some space. I wanted to explore how best to steward and model the behaviours and values needed to co-create a unified, compassionate, kind, empowered, meritocratic and resilient team and thus community. If I had more time and resources, I'd like to have team days exploring things like this. Hi friends! We're doing a postcard/letter exchange because it'll be fun and cute. All you need to do is put your community bike shop on the list or send postcards to shops on the list, or both! (I'm gonna start sending cards in a month or so once the list has grown a bit.) The idea is nothing more than growing connections between fellow weirdos doing a similar thing.
