We considered this fairly extensively, including drafting a few designs and pricing the parts/toold/time to put it together. We found that it was MUCH simpler and about the same cost to get a Fixit Station from Dero. When I approached the Transportation Demand Management Planner for the City and told her about the project, they were actually really supportive of the idea--Peterborough now has four Fixit stations which were purchased by the city and our shop is paid by the city to maintain them! That said, the vast majority of people using the station use the pump. We have had many problems with the Dero pumps and actually just replaced them with the outdoor gauged pumps from Fixtation. So far, we are really pleased and they work very well. The teens had just traveled to Washington, DC for the first time ever to attend the League of American Bicyclists’ National Bike Summit. While they were awe-struck by all they had learned – from the Safe Routes to School bill, to lobbying elected officials on Capitol Hill, to exploring the nation’s capital by bike, and even to meeting mountain bike pioneer Gary Fisher – they couldn’t help but wonder where all the young people were. For if bicycle policy affected all cyclists, then certainly all cyclists should be represented at the decision-making table. As the team debriefed their experiences, a blueprint for the Youth Bike Summit began to emerge. While the teens initially hoped for a moderate showing of youth, educators, and bicycle advocates from the New York area, it quickly became clear that the the Youth Bike Summit would attract a much broader audience – from near and (very) far! For each and every year that followed, the Youth Bike Summit, its impact, and its momentum, continued to grow. In 2014, the conference welcomed more than 500 youth and adult participants from 26 states and 4 countries. We are excited to start a new chapter and to have you all along for the exciting years ahead. Our hope is to be settling into a new, bigger and better space in January which should have the least impact on our operations. But we need your help! We will need hands to help sort, pack and move out of our home on Bloor Street. We will also need lots of help and skilled individuals to help build and set up our new home. Who should we avoid? And to those shops that don't carry it, holy crap, I totally suggest you should. We recently had a patron's health insurance company come after us because of an accident on our premises, and saved us a good amount of hassle by having our insurance deal with it. Heya Heya Spokes, We are in the process of looking for a new space that will fit all of our activities and bikes!!! We hope to have enough room for a shop with 4 bikes stands, workshop delivery, a small retail sales areas for parts and swag,about 20 recycle-a- bikes, and 20 rental bikes. For any of you out there that have a good size space would you be able to send the dimensions of your space? We are trying to figure out how much room we need!! I remember visiting Our Community Bikes in Vancouver and Goodlife in Calgary which both have good sized spaces but I have lost the direct contact information to ask them directly so if anyone from either of those organizations are on this list I would be really curious about the size of your locations!! Regional Bike!Bike! LCI training

Hi All, In the process of planning our regional/mini Bike!Bike! in Boise, we had an idea we'd like to put out and see if there's interest. In addition to the conference, we're considering leading an LCI Training session <http://bikeleague.org/content/become-instructor> for any attendees who would like to get certified. What this would entail/require: LCI candidates would have to 1) attend a Traffic Skills 101 class at home (Start your search here <http://bikeleague.org/bfa/search/map?bfaq=>--might need to do a little digging in your community) and bring your completion certificate. 2) stay in Boise 3 days after the conference (we provide housing) 3) pay $300 registration fee Both the "regional" conference and the LCI training would be open invitation to anyone in the bike!bike! community (though the LCI status only applies to U.S. residents.) How many here might be interested? I'm asking because we'd have to start the process soon, to schedule a trainer and get the League on board. I'm happy to answer any questions for anyone who's unsure what LCI status entails or whether it's worth it. I'd say, in my experience, it's definitely worth having. Programmer for Volunteer scheduling application?

A volunteer began working on a web-based application that I would describe as a combination of Doodle and Meetup. It draws from Google Calendar to create events, which can then be modified with data such as staff requirements. Reminders are emailed to volunteers, who can then click links directly from their email to sign up for shifts and events without having to log in. They can bookmark a link to view their calendar with shifts they've signed up for. Somehow, the volunteer who was working on it disappeared completely and is not responding to any attempts at contact after several months (we're a little concerned). The program seems to be about 75% complete, it functions on a basic level. You can see it at http://volunteer.meinstein.org The code is posted online at https://github.com/jrkoch/volunteer . The programming language appears to be Ruby on Rails 4 (I don't know nuthin about this). I am reaching out for assistance with completing this program because I believe this would be a very useful application for our organization and possibly for others on this list (and beyond). If anyone has alternate recommendations I welcome them. I've already checked out VolunteerSpot and it seems to require entering events manually, and since I'm already doing that on Google Calendar, Facebook, and Meetup, I'd rather not do that, too.
