You'd think that it would be a pain to pull out and replace all the cables blocking in the one you need, but it's actually pretty easy. Sent from Austin's Yellow Bike Project. The chain trick sounds even better, though. Shorter lengths of housing can go in different height food containers, i.e. 6" in SunMaid raisin bin, 1ft in Pringles can. I've spent too much time thinking about this to have not made a PVC organizer for this.... -Nate On Sep 8, 2017 1:32 PM, "Eric Brozell" <eric(a)bikeerie.org> wrote: > Hello Think Tankers, > > Does anyone have a suggestion for organizing brake and shifter cables? RBP has cables strung thru links of a bike chain, nailed to the wall. Simple, not much organization to it, keeps things clean. Any Experience With Getting Bicycles/Bicycle Repair to Folks in Haiti?
by Jimmy Hallyburton 10 Sep '17

10 Sep '17

Just wanted to check in to see if any of you have worked with any bicycle projects/programs in Haiti? I'm heading down in November to teach some housing construction and bicycle repair classes and am curious what sort of bicycle resources might be available in the community? Is there a local source for affordable bicycles and parts? Are there organizations currently shipping bicycles to Haiti? How accessible is bicycle repair in cities and rural areas? Have there been any attempts to assist with DIY community bicycle shops? I'll be bringing a bicycle to ride around on as well as some toolsets to leave behind with class participants. I haven't been able to find a lot of information about the bicycle community in Haiti and would love hear any thoughts, ideas, or insights. Ride On! Prices of New Cables and Housing?
by Josh Bisker 08 Sep '17

Hey, how do folks price their new cables and housing? And howzabout you recycled cables and housing? Is this an area in which it's ok to underprice the retail markup of commercial shops, and if so what's the rationale for doing so per se? We have our FIRST EVER batch of new cables and there are a number of ideas about how to price them. Help us with your wisdom, fam. At B!KE in Peterborough Ontario we charge $4 per cable and $2 per foot for housing. All our cables are stainless and all the housing is slick-lined. The prices are all tax inclusive. At that price you can re-cable a bike for less than $30. Does anyone out there in Bicycle Co-op land have any good documents you can share on volunteer rights or Volunteer bill of rights? I remember seeing one floating around a few years ago but cannot seem to find it in my files. Thanks, Todd -- Todd Spinner The Bike Project of Urbana-Champaign
